If you or anyone you know retired from Campbellsville University with 20 or more years of service, your help is needed.
A Legacy Garden is planned on campus to honor those who have retired from Campbellsville College or Campbellsville University with at least 20 years of service. Your help is needed in gathering all names and other information needed to engrave the bricks that will make up the garden.
“I am hopeful that the bricks and the garden can be in place by the first of 2026,” Stan McKinney, a retiree of the university and past-president of the Campbellsville University Retired Personnel Association (CU-RPA), said.
He and his wife, Joan, also a university retiree and secretary of CU-RPA, donated money to make the garden a reality.
“Establishing a Legacy Garden will be an enduring encouragement to faculty and staff,” Dr. Joseph Hopkins, president of the university, said.
McKinney said much information about retirees is available, “but some is not.”
“We ask that retirees or families of retirees send the name that should be inscribed on the brick, the last title that person held and their years of service. I also hope a short bio on each retiree can be obtained,” McKinney said.

“I consider my time at the university a blessing,” Stan McKinney said. “There are so many over the years who have helped make it an outstanding school. I know they and the university changed my life for the better.
“Not long ago I was at a gathering during which the names of many who were so important to the university, yet who had passed on years ago, were mentioned. Some had never heard of these folks who meant so much to me and others.”
McKinney said the Legacy Garden will honor all who served at least 20 years regardless of their positions at the university.
“Their contributions shouldn’t be forgotten,” McKinney said.
He is also hopeful that a short bio on each retiree can be obtained and placed on the university’s website. A QR code at the garden could link all of those bios, which would be in alphabetical order.
