The Tigers Esports team has officially kicked off its fall season, with several of its teams competing in the Playfly and NACE leagues, and more action on the way. The Tigers’ Smash varsity team has been highly active in both leagues, facing off against Seton Hall University, Maryville, Fisher College and Lindenwood University. Smash varsity secured victories over Seton Hall and Lindenwood in best-of-three matches. Maryville and Fisher escaped the Tigers’ grasp, pulling off hard fought wins.
Meanwhile, the Overwatch varsity team has gone head-to-head with some of the top teams in the nation; most recently holding itsown against players ranked among the top 500 in their regions, losing with a final score of 2-3.
Outside of league play, the Tigers’ Pokémon Trading Card team has been traveling far and wide, with trips ranging from Louisville to Baltimore. The team’s own Grayson Lang has found notable success, winning two sanctioned challenges in Louisville and reachingthe top four in three Cups. Lang also traveled to Baltimore for a regional event, which featured several thousand players from across the nation, and finished his run ranked 986. Player Zachary Brady joined Lang in Louisville’s recent tournament, where both earned aspot in the top eight. The rest of the Tigers’ Pokémon team, both with cards and on the game, are gearing up for the highly anticipated regionals being held in Louisville this October.
