2TheBrimHatCo is an emerging business in Kentucky, created in 2024, specializing in creating high-quality southern and western-inspired hats. Owner Kaylee Divine is a sophomore student at Campbellsville University’s Harrodsburg campus.
According to Divine, many people feel uncomfortable wearing hats because they’ve never had the opportunity to wear a custom hat, and that’s why she created this business.
“I personally design, customize and assemble each hat to ensure quality and uniqueness,” she said. “From designing custom logos and designs or intricate layouts. I put attention into every detail.”

“One of the biggest challenges I faced when starting my business was balancing being a college student while also running everything on my own,” she said. “As a small business owner, you are every role with no set schedule, constantly juggling responsibilities and ideas.”
2TheBrimHatCo offers different types of hats, but the real difference is in the customization. Customers can add leather engravings, unique patches, accessories like chains and feathers and even create their own designs from scratch. Divine offers different packages with options for men, women and children. Her brand is not only aimed at individual customers, but she also works with local businesses that want to elevate their merchandising.
Divine’s passion for her business is what helped her decide on its name.
“While it plays on the idea of filling a hat to the brim with personal touches,” she said, “it also hints at the phrase ‘filled to the brim,’ meaning going all in—just like I have with this business.”
According to Noelle Good, a client of 2TheBrimHatCo, the business is unique. When she heard about it, she told Divine she would support her.
“You get to customize your hat quite literally ‘to the brim,’” Good said. “It’s a great experience for all ages.”

Good said customers have only said positive things about Divine’s business.
“Her customer service is honestly 10 out of 10,” Good said. “She puts a lot of blood, sweat and tears into her products and truly wants to produce the best she possibly can. Kaylee does a wonderful job.”
Lora Cummins, Divine’s high school adviser, is proud of what she’s accomplished with this business.
“I am so incredibly proud of the young adult and business owner that Kaylee has grown into,” Cummins said. “I knew even in high school that she would achieve whatever she set her mind to.”
Cummins also believes that Divine’s participation in programs such as Future Business Leaders of America has been a great help.
“Kaylee’s involvement in Future Business Leaders of America helped her with the development of her business by helping her build upon her entrepreneurial skills and business ideas,” Cummins said. “She was able to learn more about business communications and building a business plan.”
Cummins recommends 2TheBrimHatCo because it’s a small business started by someone local.
“There are so many options to build and design just the right hat when using this company for any occasion,” she said.
According to Divine, as a small business, the customer must be the focus, which is why she’s created the “DIY Hat Bar,” allowing people to customize their hats live, whether it’s at an event, a market or a fair.
“Big companies only see you as a number,” Divine said. “I see customers as an opportunity for a personalized exclusive process.”
Owning a business while being a college student is difficult, according to Divine.
“One of the biggest challenges I faced when starting my business was balancing being a college student while also running everything on my own,” she said. “As a small business owner, you are every role with no set schedule, constantly juggling responsibilities and ideas.”
In the future, Divine wants to open a store. Her main objective is to help people who lose their hair due to medical treatments.
“I hope to continue to support and be a part of making a difference for those with cancer, in radiation, or any form of hair loss to remind them they are fearfully and wonderfully made in his image,” Divine said.
