The Woman9 exhibition showcases the collective creativity of nine women artists — Alice Biskey Steele, Angella Barrett, Maranda Fowler, Tori Christgen, Madalyn Miller, Erin Steele, Hailey Shank, Catrina Higgs and Kim Parker — who came together for a year-long sketchbook exchange. Initiated by artists Kim Parker and Tori Christgen, the project highlights the power of collaboration, community and women’s voices in the arts. Each participating artist began the project with a blank sketchbook, prepared with pages for all nine members. Each month, the sketchbooks were passed along, as artists gathered for conversation, inspiration and encouragement.
Over time, every book was transformed into a layered and collective artwork, enriched by diverse styles, perspectives and personal reflections. Once the cycle was complete, the sketchbooks returned to their original makers, now holding the creative touch of each member of the group. In addition to the visual work, each artist also contributed written reflections describing their process and inspiration. Together, the sketchbooks and writings form a vivid portrait of artistic dialogue, shared creativity, and the strength found in women supporting women. The project underscores the transformative power of collaboration — especially among women — where shared creativity and mutual support foster both artistic growth and personal connection. The Woman9 exhibition invites viewers into this intimate exchange, offering a rare glimpse of how art grows and evolves in community.
